How Wave Kings Are Made

Each month a WaveBuilder judging panel selects a new Wave King from our Facebook community. Here’s how Wave Kings are chosen:

How do I enter to become a Wave King?
To get into the running for Wave King of the Month, upload a photo of your waves to the Facebook Wave Wall at any time.

What does the Wave King win?
Each Wave King is awarded $100, a box of WaveBuilder products (which may include a sneak peek of our new product lines, Natural Wave and Cocoa & Shea), and will be featured on our Wave King page for all to see and envy. You’ll also have the opportunity to be featured and share your knowledge here on the WaveBuilder Wave Kings site.

What are the judges looking for?
The judges evaluate each picture for the general wave pattern, wave connections, and overall style. They also take into consideration active fans. If you’re on the WaveBuilder page helping people out and giving out tips there’s a good chance you’ll make it to the 1st round.

How is the WaveBuilder Wave King selected?
Photos that demonstrate the best 360 skills are sent to the 1st round. A panel of judges reviews these pictures and narrows it down to the top 2 or 3. Once the top 2 – 3 contenders are selected the judges vote and the next Wave King is crowned. In the event of a tie, the judges will ask for the community to vote for the final winner.

Does the picture with the most likes and comments win?
No, but it doesn’t hurt. Photos that have a high volume of likes and comments are more likely to be sent to the 1st round of evaluation.

When are Wave Kings selected?
Wave Kings are announced at the beginning of each month. To be considered for the next month’s Wave King upload your photo at least 2 days before the end of the month. If you upload you photo after then you’ll still be in the running for the following month’s contest.

Can I be a Wave King more than one time?
Yes. But to give others a chance at the title each Wave King will be out of the running for 12 months from the time of winning before being eligible to hold the title again.
